Abstract

The present study is an aim to overall improvement in the efficacy, reduced toxicity and enhancement of therapeutic index of niosome carrying a-tocopherol.Niosome were prepared by reverse phase evaporation method using span and tween (20 and/or 60).The preparations were characterize with respect to size reduction, entrapment efficiency, in-vitro drug release profile and stability under specific conditions. The diameter of niosomes ranges from 1-5µm with discrete and round in shape. The percent entrapment efficiency of the vesicles was found to be 67.84 %, 61.17%, 75.13% and 79.63% for F1, F2, F3 and F4 respectively. Highly cumulative release was observed with 81.78 % for span 20, 75.92% for span 60, 96.01% for tween 20 and 92.35 % for tween 60 respectively. Stability studies proved that optimum storage condition for niosomes was found to be 40C.
