Antifungal activity of amino acid schiff base Copper (II) complexes with phenanthroline and bipyridyl

Totally ten Cu (II) complexes were synthesized by the addition of Cu (II) acetate to ligand in aqueous solution with 1, 10 phenanthroline and 2, 2’ bipyridyl which led to the precipitation of binary complexes. The complexes were tested for antifungal activity against the human and plant pathogenic fungal pathogens. The [Cu (SAla) py]. H2O complex was found to have some inhibitory effect against Candida sp. and Mucor, Alternaria alternate, Pythium aphanidermatum, Penicillum sp. The Cu (II) complex with phenanthroline and bipyridyl can be used as antifungal agent to control the fungal diseases in human and plants.
